How do ratings work?
You can rate other users on a 1.0 to 10.0 scale. Ratings are one-time only — once you've rated someone, you can't change it. This keeps ratings honest and meaningful. The average rating is shown on each user's profile.

- Go to Profile → Settings → Telegram
- Make sure you have a phone number on your profile (required for linking)

Once linked, you can choose which notifications to receive: Direct Messages, Group Messages, or both. You can unlink at any time from the same settings section.
🎮 Gaming & Matchmaking
How do I find other gamers?
Head to the 🎯 Find Gamers page where you can:
- Browse Game Requests — see who's looking for players right now
- Post your own request with game, platform, and play time
- Browse all games, players, and clans
- Filter by platform (PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo, etc.)
- Suggest new games to be added
What are Game Requests?
Game Requests let you post that you're looking for players for a specific game. You can specify:
- Game & Platform — which game and what platform you play on
- Play time — when you want to play (now, or schedule for later)
- Crossplay preference — whether you're open to cross-platform play
- Role needed — what kind of player you're looking for
Live requests show a 🟢 LIVE badge, and scheduled ones show a countdown timer. You can delete your own requests anytime.
What does crossplay mean on a game?
Games that support crossplay allow players on different platforms to play together (e.g., PlayStation with Xbox, PC with Nintendo). On game pages and request cards you'll see a platform badge showing which platforms are supported. When creating a Game Request, you can indicate whether you're open to crossplay.
How do Game Ratings work?
You can rate games on a 1.0 to 10.0 scale (0.5 steps). Ratings are one-time only — once you've rated a game, the rating widget disappears. The average rating is displayed as a ★ badge on game cards and game pages.
How do Clans work?
Clans are groups of players who play together. Each clan has:
- A custom logo and banner
- Member list with roles
- Chat language flags
- Clan detail page
You can join existing clans or create your own from the 🎯 Find Gamers page.
💬 Chat & Messages
How does the chat work?
Gamers Meet has real-time chat powered by WebSockets. Messages are delivered instantly. You can:
- Send direct messages to other users
- See when someone is online
- Get push notifications for new messages (if installed as an app)
Are there chat rules?
Yes! To keep the community safe:
- Rate limiting is active — you can't spam messages
- Links are flagged with a safety warning banner
- Moderators can review messages and send warnings
- Breaking rules may result in chat being temporarily disabled
Be respectful, be kind, have fun! 🎮
What are Chat Easter Eggs?
Gamers Meet chat has fun hidden animations! Try typing these keywords in a message:
- #love — floating hearts ❤️
- #fire — flame particles 🔥
- #gg — trophy rain 🏆
- #scary — a monster jumpscare 👻
Easter egg effects play once per message — even for offline recipients when they open the chat!
Can I react to and reply to messages?
Yes! You can:
- 👍 React — toggle a thumbs-up reaction on any message. The sender gets a push notification.
- ↩️ Reply — reply to a specific message to create a threaded conversation. The quoted message is shown above your reply.
- ✓ Read receipts — see a "Seen" indicator when your message has been read.
📞 Voice & Video Calls
How do voice and video calls work?
Gamers Meet has peer-to-peer (P2P) voice and video calls built right into the chat. When you call someone, the audio and video travel directly between your browsers — the server only handles the initial connection setup.
- 📞 Voice call — audio-only call with your microphone
- 📹 Video call — voice + camera, with the option to toggle video on/off during the call
Calls use WebRTC technology, which means your data stays private and doesn't pass through our servers.
How do I start a call?
Open a chat conversation with the user you want to call. In the chat header, you'll see two buttons:
- 📞 — Start a voice call
- 📹 — Start a video call
The other user will receive a notification — even if they're on a different page or have the app in the background. They can accept or decline the call.
What can I do during a call?
- 🎤 Mute/Unmute — toggle your microphone
- 📹 Camera on/off — toggle your camera (video calls only)
- 📕 Hang up — end the call
A timer shows how long the call has been going. If the other person doesn't answer within 30 seconds, the call automatically ends.
Can I disable calls?
Yes! Go to your Profile → Settings → Communication section. There you can independently toggle:
- 💬 Text Chat — allow or block incoming messages
- 📞 Voice Calls — allow or block voice calls
- 📹 Video Calls — allow or block video calls
When a feature is disabled, anyone trying to reach you will see a message saying you have it turned off. Changes take effect immediately.
Do calls use my server data?
No. Voice and video data travels directly between you and the other person (peer-to-peer). The Gamers Meet server only sends tiny signaling messages to set up the connection — no audio or video passes through the server.
This means calls are fast, private, and don't cost us bandwidth.
What if the call doesn't connect?
Some strict network firewalls or NAT configurations may prevent a direct peer-to-peer connection. If a call fails to connect:
- Make sure your browser has permission to use the microphone (and camera for video)
- Try a different network (e.g. mobile data instead of Wi-Fi)
- Check that the other person hasn't disabled calls in their settings
🔔 Notifications
How do push notifications work?
After installing the app, you'll be asked to allow notifications. Once enabled, you'll receive notifications for:
- New chat messages (DM and group)
- Message reactions
- Forum thread replies (if subscribed)
- System announcements
You can manage notification permissions in your device settings at any time.
How do Telegram notifications work?
If you link your Telegram account (see Account & Profile), you can receive notifications directly in Telegram — even when you're not on the Gamers Meet website.
Telegram notifications are available for:
- Direct Messages — someone sends you a private message
- Group Messages — new messages in your chat groups
You can toggle each notification type on or off independently from Profile → Settings → Telegram. Your Telegram username is never shown publicly on your profile.
What notification channels are available?
Gamers Meet supports multiple notification channels:
- 🔔 Push notifications — browser/PWA notifications on your device
- ✈️ Telegram — messages sent to your linked Telegram account
- 📧 Email — for verification, password resets, and admin broadcasts
- 💬 In-app — real-time notifications inside the platform
Push and Telegram work alongside each other — you can enable both, one, or neither.
