Gamers Meet ("we", "our", "us") is a social gaming platform that connects players. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Account Information

• Username, email address, and password (hashed).
• Profile details: first name, last name, country, gender, birth date, phone number, bio, avatar image, and banner image.
• Telegram account data: chat ID, username, and notification preferences (if you link Telegram).
• Play preferences: preferred genres, play times, age range, skill level, mic and crossplay settings.
• Gamertags and platform identifiers you choose to add.
• Clan membership and related information.

Content You Create

• Chat messages (private and group), including read receipts and reactions.
• Forum posts, threads, poll votes, and likes.
• Find Gamers requests and game ratings.
• User ratings and favorites.
• Reports and moderation-related content.

Technical & Usage Data

• IP address and approximate location (from IP).
• Browser type, device information, and user agent.
• Pages visited, timestamps, and interaction events (Data Intelligence).
• QR code scan data (IP, user agent, timestamp).
• Push notification subscription data (endpoint and keys).

Third-Party Login Data

• If you log in via OAuth providers (Discord, Google, etc.), we receive your basic profile information from those services according to their own privacy policies.
• If you link your Telegram account, we store your Telegram chat ID and username to deliver notifications. We do not access your Telegram contacts or messages.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide, operate, and improve the platform.
• Enable social features: chat, forums, find gamers, clans, and voice/video calls.
• Send notifications (in-app, push, email, and Telegram) about activity relevant to you.
• Display ads based on page context (not personal data profiling).
• Security, fraud prevention, rate limiting, and abuse detection.
• Honor system, moderation, and community safety enforcement.
• Analytics and Data Intelligence to understand how the platform is used.

Real-Time Features

We use WebSocket connections (Socket.IO) for real-time chat, notifications, and presence (online status). Voice and video calls use peer-to-peer WebRTC connections — call audio/video is transmitted directly between users and does not pass through our servers.

Profile Visibility

You control what other users can see on your public profile through visibility settings. The following are never shown publicly: real name, email address, phone number, birth date, and Telegram username. You can toggle visibility for country, gender, gamertags, avatar, and play preferences.

Cookies

We use cookies for:

• Essential session management (login, CSRF protection).
• Language and theme preferences.
• Cookie consent tracking.
• Analytics cookies to understand site usage (optional, requires consent).
• Advertising cookies for ad delivery and click tracking (optional, requires consent).

You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

Data Sharing

• We do not sell your personal data.
• Find Gamers notifications may be shared to a Discord channel via webhook (username and request details only).
• Chat notifications may be sent to your Telegram account via the Telegram Bot API if you have linked your account and enabled this feature.
• We may share data with service providers who help operate the platform, or when required by law.

Data Storage & Security

• Data is stored in a local SQLite database on our server.
• Passwords are hashed using secure algorithms (never stored in plain text).
• Uploaded images are converted to WebP format and stripped of EXIF metadata for privacy and storage efficiency.
• Email verification tokens and password reset tokens expire automatically.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Chat messages, forum posts, and other content remain until you or a moderator deletes them. You may request full account deletion at any time.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data.
• Correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Control profile visibility settings.
• Withdraw cookie consent at any time.

Children's Privacy

Gamers Meet is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
